Vocational Training Sessions in Slovakia

The three-day programme was led by Prof. Anna Bandlerova, Ing. Zuzana Bohatova, and Ing. Marek Urban, lecturers at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. The training combined educational content with practical demonstrations and was designed in line with the project vocational training programme focused on social entrepreneurship, innovation, agriculture, apiculture, environmental awareness, and community development. 
 

During the course, participants learned about the role of bees and pollinators in agriculture, biodiversity, and food production. They were introduced to the main bee products such as honey, beeswax, pollen, and propolis, including their nutritional, practical, and economic value. Attention was also given to how beekeeping can contribute to small-scale entrepreneurship, especially in rural areas and socially oriented community initiatives.
 

The programme also included practical workshops where participants could observe beekeeping tools and materials, taste bee products, and create handmade items from beeswax, especially natural candles. These hands-on sessions were highly appreciated, as they connected traditional knowledge with creativity and practical skills that could potentially be used in future income-generating activities.
 

In addition, selected parts of the training introduced participants to basic business thinking, such as how to transform an idea into a simple product, how to identify local opportunities, and how community-based initiatives can support economic and social development. The training therefore reflected the broader project objective of encouraging social businesses in agriculture and apiculture. 
 

Beyond the educational aspect, the course also created an open and friendly environment where participants could meet others, exchange experiences, and strengthen their confidence. For many participants, the training represented not only a learning opportunity but also an important social activity supporting integration and personal motivation.
